BIO
Jen Chaconas was born in a small town outside of High Point, NC. She attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. While teaching 5th grade Science, she started graduate school at Furman University and later continued at Radford University. She was on her way to receiving her Masters in Educational Leadership, when asked if she interested in pharmaceutical sales. She took the leap and worked with Abbott Laboratories for 10 years, climbing the rankings to becoming a national, regional and district sales trainer. Due to all of the changes in the health industry, she decided to change careers and move on to medical device sales. 2.5 years of being on call 24/7 she had saved enough money to FINALLY pursue her dream career.
It took quite some time to get to her final destination, which was to become an entrepreneur and build a business of photography. She took an online 1 year course, worked diligently on getting involved in organizations, learning all she could to build her business, which celebrated its 4th anniversary on Tuesday, June 3rd of this week.
Jen is continually seeking new and innovative ways to improve her artistry. She received her certification as a Certified Professional Photographer after 2 years of studying for a comprehensive exam and submitting images that are placed in front of 5 judges to determine whether or not you have what it takes to become certified. This is one degree she is most proud of, due to the fact that only 8% of the photographers in the US have this degree.
Jen’s passion of photography is centered around working with families, high school seniors and capturing true personalities with corporate head shots. She has been fortunate to be recognized as one of the best photographers at Smith Mountain Lake for all 5 years that she has been in business. She ultimately enjoys building relationships with her clients and producing a product that they will cherish for a lifetime.
On a more personal note, she enjoys spending time on the lake with hubby & family, playing with her dog, teeing it up with friends, and overall doing things that make her extra “JOLLY”.
Her business tagline says it all…. “Life is short, capture the NOW!”
